July 11—African Lion Safari

This is a really neat place. It’s like a zoo that you can drive through. While the animals are in separate, fenced-in enclosures, you are driving through them and therefore must keep your windows rolled up and stay in the vehicle (unless, of course, you want to be mauled by a large feline). Here are some pictures of the drive through the park:

The elephants are brought to a large lake everyday for a swim.

And here are reasons why Angel decided to take the safari bus instead of her personal car. The monkeys can be very destructive—they break antennas, windshield wipers, peel off weather stripping from front and back windshields, and have been known to poop on cars and windshields.

You know, this is not as much fun for me as it is for you.

The elephants put on a great show later in the day after their swim. They really are amazing animals.

At the birds of prey show, Ashlynn was chosen to have a falcon land on her arm. At one point the bird flapped up to reposition itself, and scratched her arm a couple of times with its talons. What a souvenir!

The elephants are brought to the pond each day to swim, then they grab each other’s tails and march in a line through the park back to their enclosure.
